Hornet Invitational

Kandace Compton, last week's Big 8 Conference Athlete of the week, hit another state "A" qualification mark today in the ladies 4X400 at the Hornet Invitational hosted by Sacramento State University.
Compton now holds 3 automatic marks this season after her 1500m (4:47.06) last week, at the Aggie Open, and then her lifetime best today in the ladies 800m (2:14.71). This places her 3rd overall in ARC history for the 800, as well as the third best time in the state.
Teammates, Imani Thomas, Morgan Simpson and Ane Archuleta rounded off the beavers 4X400 that sliced eight seconds off their previous best.
"The 400 relay ladies showed tremendous improvements today. They also have lots of potential to improve, including better baton passes" adds Coach Powless.
Other season bests went to Jocelyn Schmidt in the 800 (2:24.12), and Siena Morgan in the women's pole vault (3.40m). In addition, both Ane Archuleta and Morgan Simpson in the open 400. Although Ane and Morgan were in separate heats, the ladies both ran season bests of 1:00.14.
Next up for the lady beavers is the ARC Invitational hosted on Fri. and Sat. March 27th and 28th.
