Beavers vs San Joaquin Delta
A sluggish start quickly transformed into an intense match, Friday night at the Beaver Lodge. The Beavers are on a six game winning streak after defeating Delta College Mustangs 3 sets to 1 (15-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-15). In the first set the Beavers fell battling not only team errors, but Delta's offense and serving. Out of the 27 hitting attempts the Beavers ended the first set hitting 0.000% with only completing seven kills the entire set. After losing the first set 15-25, the Beavers head coach Ashlie Frame was able to spark some fire back into the Beavers who came back and won the next three sets. With libero, Kiana Chaney, and outside hitter, Taylor Bunger, aggressive on defense with a combined total of 39 digs, the true spark came from both freshman middles Courtney Macklin and Erianna Williams. Both girls were able to bring not only the energy that was missing the first set, but the kills and blocks needed to dominate the board. Macklin had a total of 30 hitting attempts, 13 kills, and only 2 errors. Another honorable mention is Williams who made some great plays with a total of 31 hitting attempts, 15 kills, and 4 errors. The Beavers next match with be home On Wednesday October 15th against Santa Rosa Junior College.
