American River College Women's Cross Country Place 4th at 3C2A Championships

American River College Women's Cross Country Place 4th at 3C2A Championships

It was a rainy day at the 3C2A State Championships at Woodward Park on Saturday, November 23.  Despite the rainy and slippery conditions, the Lady Beavers moved from 9th place at the mile to 5th place at the two mile, and a 4th place overall finish!  This is the best team finish from American River College cross country women since the 1998 team when ARC record holder Jen Schindler was State Champion.  Only six times in school history have the women finished in the top 5 at the State meet.

Alejandra Magana-Ramirez delivered on her promise of finishing in the top 10, coming in 7th overall and first beaver.  Alanna Laverty moved up 11 places to finish second team all-state in 24th place.  The remaining members of this history making team all set SB's or PR's on this challenging day:

Autumn Garcia, 21:11 (PR)

Lily Harline, 21:12 (PR)

Anastasia Kozlowski, 22:11 (SB)

Jasmine Tirado, 23:22 (PR)

Emily Marchetti, 24:39 (PR)

"I'm proud of this TEAM.  They embraced imperfect conditions and focused on the TEAM.  That is what cross country is all about.  We were not ranked prior to the race so we were happy to show what we knew we could do.  I am beyond grateful for each one of them, and our journey together this season!"  Head Coach Melanie Cleland
