Spring 2020 was like no other season. Student athletes started the year with young and vibrant teams. On Thursday, March 12th, men's and women's swim & dive teams were on their way to the Cuesta Quad Meet at Cuesta College. They were almost to their destination when they got the call that Spring sports are cancelled. They made the 6+ hour drive back to Sacramento and did not step foot on the pool deck for the rest of the season. All other spring sport experienced the same kind of loss as the country went into the shelter in place order and the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world.
Many coaches and athletes adapted to having virtual workout sessions, zoom team meetings, and lots of texting and email. As can be expected of ARC student athletes, they took this challenge of living in a new world head on. They focused on their academics and rocked it in the classroom.
Despite the pandemic, we have much to celebrate. ALL spring 2020 sports earned a 3.0 or higher team Grade Point Average. It is hard to find words to describe the accomplishments of these teams, so we will just do it with numbers. Check out the team GPA's for all our teams for the Spring 2020 semester:
