HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

DeGan's homer not enough as Beavers fall to Feather River

DeGan's homer not enough as Beavers fall to Feather River

American River College's week ended like it started, with a disappointing loss at home as the Beavers fell to Feather River College 8-6 on Friday.  The game capped a long 30 hour stretch in which the Beavers dropped both 4 hour games of a double-header with Shasta College on Thursday, then turned right back around to play Feather River in a moved-up 11:00 a.m. start to try and beat the incoming rainstorm.  Feather River got rolling early scoring a run in the 1st inning and then 4 in the 2nd inning to go up 5-0 early off of starter Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay).  The Golden Eagles tacked on another run in the 4th but Josephson settled down and kept the Beavers in the game through the 7th inning.  A.R.C. made it close with LF Cole Hurtarte (Whitney) hitting a two run double to make the score 6-4.  Feather River tacked on a couple of runs in the 8th as sophomore RHP Greysen Pulsipher (Cosumnes Oaks) retired the first two batters on four pitches, then lost it on two walks and 3 hit batters to make the score 8-4.  Freshman RF Dodger DeGan (Del Oro, pictured) then came up in the bottom of the 8th and launched a 1-0 fastball over the left field fence for his first career home run to make the score 8-6.  The Beavers would not get any closer though and the nightmare week ended with the club dropping four straight at home.

A.R.C. continues their homestand with a 2:00 p.m. start against Mission College on Tuesday.
