HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

Beavers can't get past Sierra, fall 8-1

Beavers can't get past Sierra, fall 8-1

Despite the heavy rainfall that came down on Friday night and early Saturday morning the American River College baseball team was still able to get there game in Saturday against Sierra College but it did not start- or end well. The Wolverines touched up sophomore starter Hayden Josephson for three runs in the first inning on a pair of double after Josephson walked the first two batters of the game.  He settled down however and only had one three ball count after the 4th batter of the game, a walk in the 7th inning.  He ended up striking out 7 in 7 innings of work allowing four runs, three earned.  The game was close late, 4-1 in the 8th inning, but as the other two games in the series had gone, Sierra's potent bats wore the Beavers down and they scored four runs in the last two innings.

A.R.C. managed just six hits, with the lone run coming on an RBI double by 1B Steven Langley (El Camino) in the 6th inning.   Sophomore SS Lane Field (Whitney, pictured) and C Casey DeMello (Valley Christian) each had a pair of hits on the day.  The Beavers will travel to Santa Rosa on Tuesday to begin their three game series with the Bear Cubs.
