Beavers win final road game of 2019

Beavers win final road game of 2019

American River College went on the road for the final time in 2019 and picked up a win against Cosumnes River College on Thursday.  For the 2nd straight game the Beavers rapped out 15 hits, including an inside-the-park home run from Ian McIsaac (Davis) to down the Hawks 10-6.  CRC hit Beavers starter Collin Carriger (Bella Vista) hard in his final start as a Beaver, but freshman RHP Drake Vestbie (Reno, pictured) came on in relief and threw 3 1/3 innings of 2 hit ball to keep the Beavers in the game.  A.R.C. was down 6-2 entering the 6th inning but and RBI single from SS Lane Field (Whitney) and 1B Steven Langley (El Camino) brought the score to 6-5.  The 8th inning was kind to the Beavers as they plated 5 runs, the first on a Lane Field triple off the top of the center field fence.  With one out and runners at 2nd and 3rd McIsaac launched a line drive to left center in which the CRC center fielder dove and just missed making the catch.  He hurt himself on the play and could not get the ball in to the infield and by the time the left fielder came over and picked the ball up McIsaac was racing around third and scored well in front of the relay throw.  It was the Beavers first inside-the-park home run since Tyler Swank (Del Campo) hit one at Mission College in 2017.

After Vestbie finished off the Hawks in the 8th inning sophomore Nick Perry (Rio Linda) retired the Hawks 3 up 3 down in the 9th to pick up the save.  He threw 7 pitches, all strikes in picking up the save.

The Beavers season finale is Friday at home at 2:30 as they finish the series and BIG 8 Conference play against Cosumnes River.  RHP Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay) will be making his last start for the Beavers.
