Beavers close out season with 7-1 win

Beavers close out season with 7-1 win

On the final day of the 2019 season the American River College baseball team found a way to win their first conference series, defeating Cosumnes River College 7-1 at Beaver Field.  Sophomore RHP Hayden Josephson (Granite Bay, pictured) threw 6 2/3 innings allowing just 3 hits to pick up his 3rd win of the season.  He struck out 5 giving him 80 on the season, 4th most in the BIG 8 Conference this year.  His 80 strikeouts are the most for an A.R.C. pitcher since Jason Maes struck out 96 in 2005.  Sophomore C Casey DeMello (Valley Christian) had his best day of the season going 3x3 with a walk, his first triple of the season and a pair of RBI.  Sophomore SS Lane Field (Whitney) had a pair of hits and an RBI to finish the season with 49 hits.  Freshman 2B Garrett Glynn (Del Oro) also had a pair of hits on the day.

As the Beavers increased their lead by scoring a pair of runs in the 8th inning sophomores Ryan Marcoccia (Del Campo), Austin Jacobs (River City), Shawn Roberts (Del Campo), Ryne Sullivan (Pleasant Grove) and Nick Perry (Rio Linda) were all able to make an appearance in their final game in a Beaver uniform.  3B Sonny Ledford (Rio Americano) made a great diving play in the 9th inning as well.

The Beavers would like to thank everyone for their support during the 2019 season and are looking forward to 2020.
