Beavers still winless at Home - fall to Butte

The American River College baseball team missed an opportunity to even the season series with Butte College on Saturday as the Beavers fell to the Roadrunners for the second straight day, this time 9-2.  Once again A.R.C started out on top, scoring single runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to go up 2-1.  A.R.C. got on the board in the 2nd when sophomore 2B Addison Lueras (Ponderosa) doubled to left and advanced to third on an errant throw.  Sophomore 1B Garrett Glynn (Del Oro) then scored Lueras on a ground out to short.  The Beavers added a run in the 3rd when freshman SS DeMarco Hawthorne (Sac High) scored on a sac fly by freshman DH Daniel Paiz (Pioneer).  For the second straight day though the Beavers would not be able to score after the 3rd inning.

Butte took the lead in the 5th inning thanks to 5 straight hits off of starter Blake Yuyama (Kennedy).  Yuyama came into the game having yielded just 5 hits over 13 innings pitched but he surrendered 11 over just 5 innings today.  The score remained 4-2 until the 7th when Butte broke it open thanks to a bases loaded walk then a two run double to make the score 8-2.

The teams will complete their three-game series on Saturday at Wendell Bolar Field at Butte College at 1:00 p.m.
