Bio

Coach Elder is in his second year as the safeties coach at ARC and enjoys every second of it. In 2022 he had the pleasure of coaching Domonic Spence, a First Team All-Conference selection and Teeg Slone who moved on to play at Utah State.

Elder graduated from Luther Burbank High School in ’07 where he was a three-year varsity starter and Co-Defensive MVP as a junior in ’06.

He attended College of San Mateo from 2007 to 2009 where he was a two-year starter with 13 career interceptions (three for touchdowns), Defensive MVP in 2011.  Elder led the Bulldogs to a Nor-Cal Championship and a State Championship appearance in 2011, where they lost 7-6 to Mt. SAC.  Elder was able to capitalize on a grey shirt year to graduate as a mid-year transfer to Arizona State University.  He went on to play two seasons for the Sun Devils, starting 22 of 25 games.

After Graduating from ASU, Elder had the privilege of playing in the NFL briefly in 2012 for the Arizona Cardinals. He also played for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2014, where he started in six games. Unfortunately, he sustained a neck injury that caused nerve damage and was released in the off-season. 

Once Elder was done playing football at a high level, he turned his attention to coaching. He began his coaching career at West Campus High School as the Head Coach. Eddie coached there for two years (‘15-‘16), where he went 3-20. West Campus did not win a single game in the previous 4 seasons. Elder later left West Campus to be the Head Coach at his Alma Mater, Luther Burbank High School. Just after the coaches who coached him, the Godfathers of the 3500 movement in John Heffernan and James Pale. In five year stint Burbank (minus the COVID year), He had a record of 19-31 and only missed the playoffs once. Coach Elder is proud to have had the honor of coaching outstanding players such as Levelle Bailey, DaMarcus Johnson, and Moses Finau.  

Elder comes from a family of nine, four sisters and two brothers.  He was born in Oakland, California and raised in Sacramento. He married his wife MerSades in 2019 and the have four kids; twins Kameron & Simone, Aleeyah and Londynn.
