ARC-7                    DVC-2

Overall: 3-0         Conference: 1-0

Coming off the program's first ever MJC Invitational championship, the Beavers hosted conference rival Diablo Valley College. The Vikings are currently ranked 3rd in Northern California and finished in 3rd place at the MJC Invitational. ARC took a 2-1 lead after the doubles, highlighted by TJ Aukland/Justin Barton playing inspired and dynamic tennis at the #3 spot. Seppi Capaul/Alex Meliuk were down a break for much of their match at #2, but they earned the break back late and broke again to seal the match 9-7. At the #1 spot Cody Duong/Kadyn Silva fell 8-3 to Garrett Goldman/Mariano Salvador who had previously reached the final of the ITA Preseason tournament and the final of the MJC Invitational Flight 1 Draw.

In the singles the Beavers did not lose a set, only being prevented of a sweep when TJ Aukland (#5) was forced to retire after winning the first set with an Achilles injury. The most impressive singles performances were turned in by Meliuk (#1) and Duong (#2). Meliuk stepped in to the top singles position for the first time on the season and beat Garrett Goldman, ranked #4 in Northern California after the preseason, 6-1, 6-3. Duong was efficient, beating Sean Austin Miller 6-2, 6-2. Justin Barton put up a brave effort, battling through sickness to earn the victory at #6 singles, 6-2, 6-3.

The Beavers will next travel to Solano on Friday, February 19, to take on the Falcons for the second conference match of the season.
