2017 ITA NorCal JuCo Regional Championships

The 2017 ITA NorCal JuCo Regional Championships were hosted by American River College from September 29 through October 1. For the third consecutive season ARC swept the men's singles and doubles championships in the event. Michael Vizcarra lost only one set in route to the singles title, and he and Sam Hall dominated the doubles draw, beating the Diablo Valley College pairing of Garrett Goldman/Mariano Salvador 6-2, 6-2 in the final. The result was proof of the huge improvements Vizcarra has made, as he lost in the quarterfinal last season and finished the 2016-17 season as the #32 ranked player in the state. Hall is a freshman and made an impressive run in the singles also, reaching the final before falling to Vizcarra 6-2, 7-5. A third Beaver, Pete Gibson, reached the singles semifinal and Gibson paired with Kevin Zolnikov to reach the semifinal of the doubles, losing a hard fought and extremely well played match to Goldman/Salvador (DVC).

Vizcarra joined recent ARC players Lovedeep Singh (2015) and Alessio Paro (2016) as winners of both the singles and the doubles of the event. Both Singh and Paro won the doubles with 3-time All-American, and American River tennis legend, Cody Duong.
