HOME OF THE AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS

DVC Hall of Fame Classic

DVC Hall of Fame Classic

The American River College men's track & field team travelled to Diablo Valley College on Friday for the inaugural DVC Hall of Fame Classic.

Highlights of the meet included a season opening, NorCal leading 1500m by ARC's Sebastian Leon. Seb clocked a 4:04.85 to win the event - he was followed closely by ARC's Xavier Weaver at 4:05.94. Later in the meet, the 3000m group basically had a dual meet against Hartnell, with the two distance powerhouses combining for 15 of the first 16 places. Andrew Ribeiro pulled off the win running a good early season time of 9:01.12. Once again like the 1500m, the winning Beaver was followed closely by a teammate with Brent Hunter finishing 2nd in 9:02.62. In the sprints Corey Lyons finished 2nd in the 400m with a 48.79, just missing first place by 0.15 seconds. Myles Ellis finished 2nd in both the 100m and 200m in times of 10.95 and 21.81, both good times for the 400m specialist. Davis Yasuda placed 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 46.26m or 151'9" – not bad for the converted baseball player in his first track meet.

Next Saturday the men's team will travel to Turlock for the Kim Duyst Invitational.
