The Beavers opened up the 2020 outdoor track & field season a few weeks earlier than normal at the Battle of the Regions at Bakersfield College on February 7th. After a 4:45am departure and a 5 hour drive, the Beavers performed like they were at a home meet. DJ Phillips had the biggest day of the meet, running state championship qualifying times in both the 100m and 200m in great early season times of 10.61 and 21.39. Christian Catlin took 2nd in the 100m in 11.01. Ruben Garcia and Sean Larbaoui ran the 2nd and 3rd fastest early season 1500m times of the season in 4:06 and 4:07 - they came back and ran 9:06 and 9:10 in the 3k. Imani Greene won the 110m High Hurdles in a lifetime best 16.09. Antonio Nevarez just missed a lifetime best in the discus taking 3rd in 42.26m (138'8"). The Beavers will take a 2 week break before traveling to De Anza college on February 22nd for the Jim Linthicum Invitational.
