ARC Women’s Swim and Dive Team Finishes 6th at State Championships

The women's swim and dive team traveled to DeAnza College last week to compete in the State Championship Meet. The top 16 individual event qualifiers and top 12 relay teams state wide were invited to compete in the State Championships. ARC fielded a team of 8 women to compete (Sophomore Kiara Green & Amy Crayne, Freshman Mackenzie Ayala, Valeria Ugaz, Cassidy Barry, Laura Heberle, Rachel Bueller & Ari Miggins). Sophomore Amy Crayne favored to win both boards, did exactly that and at the same time set 2 new state records, 1M 261.40 score and 3 M with 266.30, both new school records as well. Amy Crayne was named 2019 California Community College Diver of the Year, and her coach also her mom, Dede Crayne, a former state champion herself was named 2019 California Community College Diving Coach of the Year! The excitement and energy carried onto the swimmers with 5 new school records! Mackenzie Ayala, freshman finished 3rd in the women's 200 IM in a time of 2:10.83, the women's 100 Back 5th overall with a new school record of 59.55 and the 200 Back another new school record in a time of 2:09.44. Freshman international student athlete Valeria Ugaz set a new school record in the 100 Fly in a time of 59.43 finishing 6th at the state meet and 5th overall in the 200 Fly in a time of 2:15.34. The women's relays all moved up based on their seeds for the state meet with a new school record in the women's 800 FR, 8:04. 80 (Barry, Green, Ayala, Ugaz), 4th in the 400 FR, 3rd in the 200 FR and 6th in the 400 MR.
