Lady Beavers Finish Second again at the Lou Vasquez Invite Golden Gate Park, San Francisco

With the addition of 2 new beavers, the lady beavers had 8 finishers in the Lou Vasquez Invite on Sept. 18th.   They finished a respectable 2nd, behind Hartnell, jumping ahead of Sequoias, Delta and Butte (who were previously ranked ahead of them).

No surprise, the squad was led by their dominate freshman, Jenica Dodge, who completed the 5K course in 18:54.  Dodge (pictured above) was second despite the wrong turn near the finish at the polo field.

Laura Cox was the second Beaver finisher in 19th overall with her 20:36.  Jocelyn Stillwell was 2 seconds back for 20th place followed by Freshman Cheyenne Drury (Former El Camino HS).  Drury, a former softball standout debuted in her first ever Cross-Country Race finishing 24th in 20:47.

Rounding out the top five Beavers was Ashlyn Hardin (former Del Campo HS) freshman, also completed her first collegiate cross-country competition finishing 29th in 21:04.

Other ARC finishers included Jocelyn Schmidt, 30th in 21:06, Maria Rojo in 49th at 22:42, Sydney Simmen in 54th at 23:04 and Autumn Edgar in 60th at 24:00.

Coach Powless adds, "the ladies cut a minute off their combined time and brought their 1-5 spread/gap down to just over 2 min, so we are definitely moving in the right direction.  It's going to be a competitive and exciting season now".
