The 53rd Annual Lou Vasquez Invitational

Women's Cross Country at Lou Vasquez Invitational

Led by team captains Regina Nyareso and Jenica Dodge, the lady beaver's squad finished second in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park for the Lou Vasquez Invite.  They finished the long 5k course in 18:26 and 19:03 respectfully to take first and third overall in the field of 7 teams and 75 competitors.

Dodge took the lead shortly after the 1 mile mark and held off Malena Grover of Hartnell by 6 seconds.   ARC's Lucie Chevreuil finished 20th  (20:48), Ashley Albor finished 22nd (20:56) followed by Carissa Salazar (22:26), Eleanor Velez (22:34), Tenanile Fletcher who improved by nearly a minute from last week (23:08) and Jaclyn Leduc who was the most improved after cutting off 1:10 from her last week's personal best (23:08).

"The team is really moving in the right direction with huge improvements.  They cut 4 min. off their team combined time (1-5) finishers", says coach Powless. 

They are currently ranked second in Northern California.

Next up for the lady beavers:  The Hartnell Invitational on Fri. Oct. 9th in Torro Park at 4:00 p.m.
